Leaders are readers, and learners are earners.
Reading was a source of solace as a kid and one of my favorite places to be was the library.
Over the years, I’ve read many books that have changed the way I look at the world.
Whatever is going on for you in life right now, there’s always an Upside.
That’s one of the gifts of reading Norman Vincent Peale’s “The Power of Positive Thinking” gave me when I was in 8th grade. The lessons have stayed with me.
Every day you have a CHOICE.
You get to decide how the day will go.
In the morning after you open your eyes, you get to decide what choice you want to make.
You can get stuck in the cycle of lack or want - or - you can choose to have your BEST DAY YET.
In the evening before you go to sleep, you get to decide what to tell your brain about the day you just had. This becomes the story you tell yourself which becomes the story of your life...
Years ago, I was like an explosion when I walked into a room.
My fiery energy was at times like a bomb that went off as I left carnage all around me.
I had no idea what emotional intelligence was or how to get it.
To create a calmer, more peaceful life, I decided to take small, intentional actions every single day.
These actions added up to change my environment and increase my overall well-being.
And it's what has allowed me to coach, train, and mentor over 100,000 leaders all over the world.
This past month, I've been in 4 different states -- and been on a global platform training leaders.
That wouldn't have been possible without doing the daily work and taking those simple steps.
See, it really is very simple... choose to focus on taking one small action each day, take that action, and your life will transform before your eyes.
Yet, simple isn't easy...
... which is why so few people do it.
ACTION: The Upside Challenge for the week is to focus on your choices every day.
Take the needed small steps to get where you're going.
Where can you see and choose more "upside"?
