Life advice from my Uber driver…
People are nice everywhere on the planet.
You just have to be willing to open your eyes and see it.
Then he shared a story about woman who was lost and stranded in a Kenyan jungle… and how she told the people who found her that the animals had cared for her.
At the end of the story, he said, ...."Even animals didn't eat her"....
He went on to talk about how the media only shows you bad news…and the best thing you can do is to travel and see all the good for yourself.
I agree.
When I’ve traveled all around …

... and, many other countries… I have found the same truth.
People are nice everywhere on the planet.
You just have to be willing to open your eyes, actively look for it, and see it.
That's what the best leaders do... and they understand that as each country and culture has its own unique language that is both the same and different as another, each company and each individual in that company, does as well.
The best leaders work to find AND create common ground.
Start with seeing the kindness and shared humanity.
Add identifying their best to build a great team with a range of skills and foster a respect and desire for effective communication.
This may mean that in your culture, be it family, business, or community... many "languages" are spoken.
The best leaders find the best in others and build a work culture around people - respecting and appreciating how their differences bring unique skills and gifts to the team. Then together, aligned in the common values and effort of creating a successful and profitable company, everyone wins.
ACTION: The Upside Challenge for the week is to ask yourself: What does being nice look like in your life?
How can you be a leader who fosters a top-notch culture and inspires these qualities and behaviors?
