Someone recently asked me to describe my business Upside Thinking in two words.
While I could have chosen countless phrases, I chose "Courageous Leadership.”
Courage is defined as:
“the attitude of facing and dealing with anything recognized as dangerous, difficult, or painful instead of withdrawing from it; the quality of being fearless or brave; valor.”
The kind of leader who willingly faces whatever comes their way is a leader worth following.
Let's get real.
Sometimes life doesn't go as planned.
~ The stock market tanks.
~ A loved one gets sick.
~ You get in an accident.
~ You lose your biggest contract/client.
It’s easy to fall into the victim role in which mindset, attitude and commitment is dependent on circumstances.
If you are living the path of Courageous Leadership, you seek the lesson -- and find a solution.
Over the past 6 months I've been tested every day.
~ My house still doesn't have furniture from the initial flood.
~ I lived without heat and hot water for 7 weeks.
~ The caretakers cottage ended up being a gut after 14 pipe breaks and we're only 1/2 way to completion.
~ I lost 300+ personal items worth tens of thousands of dollars and much of it can't be replaced for sentimental reasons.
Three months in, we had 2 tornados, causing 1/2 of the event center to cave in and part of the roof on the new house and barn to peel off.
Almost every day, I have a contractor at my home.
And through it all ...
... I've been running my business, hosting leadership retreats, and working with
private coaching clients ...
... modeling Courageous Leadership.
Often, there’s a focus on problems, difficulties, and lack when it comes to leadership.
Courage lets you move beyond challenges with grace and gratitude.
And that's much easier to do when you partner with a higher power every step of the way.
Courageous Leadership.
Where every step matters.
ACTION: The Upside Challenge of the week is to view the challenges of your life and business as opportunities for courageous leadership.
Whether you are the leader of a company, your family, or yourself... focus on strengths and solution.
Because the World Needs You and Your Brilliance.
