When you don’t define what success looks like to you, you wear working “hard” as a badge of honor.
You tell yourself (and anyone else listening) that waking up early, going to the gym, and hustling throughout the day…is just what successful people do.
You tell your kids that you don’t have time to attend that game …
… as you’ve got to stay the course and do this for “x” amount of time …
… and it’s for their greatest good.
You tell your spouse the payoff is coming …and when you get to Success Street, you’ll have all the time in the world for them.
On the journey, ... your stress is so high that you need a coping mechanism.
You take a look at the people around you ...
... and see they all have something to help let off steam …
… and you deserve the break from all of your “hard” work.
So enter in one or more of the following coping mechanisms:
~ Overeating
~ Overexercising
~ Scrolling mindlessly and endlessly on social media
~ Smoking weed
~ Excessive alcohol consumption
~ Drug use
~ Pornography
~ Vaping
~ Energy drinks
~ Binging on Netflix
You tell yourself it’s not that bad …and you can stop any time.
Yet when you look at yourself in the mirror deep down, you get it allows you to numb vs. feel what’s going on in your life.
Over time, pushing, hustling and grinding will take a toll on you and you’ll act out, burn out, or get sick.
I've read this storyline …
… and been the lead character in this play …
… numbing so I didn't have to look at myself and my life closely.
Yeah…
… I’ve experienced my own personal hell and back with this one ...
... trying to run and hide ...
... yet everywhere I went …
… there I was.
The most painful part of this cycle is that you were promised happiness when you became "successful."
So you spent all of your time chasing Success … only to be left standing looking at the pieces of what was once your life
... wondering what the heck just happened?, feeling empty, like something is missing.
When you understand you have a Divine mission – and you can have Success with ease you may just have the courage to seek out working with someone like me ...
... so that you can live that out.
Health. Meaning. Contribution.
These are the categories to look at so you can best define what success is and looks like for you.
Commitment and the actions that you take in these areas of health, meaning, and contribution are what it's like to actually live on Success Street.
Anything else is a distraction.
What are you waiting for?
Get on my calendar and let's have a conversation.
ACTION: The Upside Challenge of the week is to examine if you have a clear definition of what success and living a successful life really is in the areas of health, meaning, and contribution.
Are you living on track for that vision for your life?
If not, first, get clear on your definition of Success.
If something gets in your way, ask why.
And reach out ... so you start to take action and keep taking it.
Because the world needs you and your brilliance.
