I’m a huge fan of ease and grace – and shortcuts.
At Design Your Destiny Live, I share Upside Thinking’s Roadmap to Stratospheric Success.
This framework allows you to get what you want without having to change who you are.
When I left college, I wish I had understood that you’ve got to master external as well as internal movements.
As you embark on your journey, the 7 Pillars of Influential Leadership™ I teach at Design Your Destiny Live enables you to create a strong foundation.
You also need healthy internal movements to strengthen your external structure.
This will result in you having the right tools to build an effective long-term strategy and be well-equipped to take consistent action.
Over time I’ve learned that tactics and hustle don’t get you where you want to go without fully embodying the work you’re called to do.
It took me a long time to understand this, and a great example can be found in the many stories of people who’ve won the lottery, and went broke, failing to embody wealth or moving past their wealth set-point.
There is no “one-size-fits-all” step-by-step formula to success.
This is why the 7 Pillars of Leadership are a framework, from which to custom build your design.
So, back to those internal movements…
I’m not a fan of “fake it until you make it” which is often taught when someone tells you to imagine yourself as “x”.
Yet, your beliefs, inner dialogue and emotions are tied into how you create a strategy and take consistent action, because these are the daily internal habits that will get you where you want to go. Or not.
When I changed my own self-image and beliefs about what was possible for me in growing my business, I began examining what was true. I asked myself:
Is it true that you had the courage to leave the government without another job? Yes.
Is it true that you had the courage to open a business without a business degree? Yes.
Is it true that you got your 1st client with no experience – and they signed up for a $50,000 training and coaching package? Yes.
Is it true that you wrote 7 books – and have been recognized by the White House and Small Business Administration for your work? Yes.
On and on the list goes.
And, while past success does not predict future success, these are truths about who I am – and reflect the leader I’m called to be.
They can embolden me and keep me from lapsing into the stagnation caused by false beliefs.
It wasn’t about reciting mantras or affirmations. I looked for evidence about who I am and how that has shown up in my life.
You might be thinking, “Lisa, that’s nice, however I don’t have that list.”
You’re correct. You have your own list of truths to recall and stand in and take action from – actions that move you closer to what you want.
Where are you currently putting your energy and focus?
Does this energy and focus currently move you forward so that your insides match your external endpoints?
ACTION: The Upside Challenge of the week is to see where your internal systems do not support the external goals you’re aiming to achieve.
Can you dig into the underlying beliefs that keep you stuck?
