Begin with the End in Mind

You have a big mission and calling. You were created for greatness. Which will you give your attention and focus to each day? Begin with the end in mind.
American former competitive swimmer Michael Phelps broke Mark Spitz’s 7 gold medal record in a single Olympics at the 2008 Beijing Games.Begin with the End in Mind
He re-defined excellence by earning 28 total medals in his career, making him the most decorated Olympian in history.
At Design Your Destiny Live, the first part of the curriculum is centered around creating a winning plan for business and for life.
Pillar #1 of the 7 Pillars of Leadership is to Start With a Written Plan, Beginning With The End in Mind.
It’s critical to understand your #1 focus.
Whatever it is, every action you take must lead you to that end goal.
If there is something that you’re doing that doesn’t lead you to that end in mind, it is a distraction.
For Michael Phelps, his end in mind was clear – be a world-class competitive swimmer – the very best.
His focused effort led to him winning.
Every action he took was in alignment with his mission.
He took actions to strengthen his muscles, such as maintaining a healthy diet, and kept his focus and energy on walking away with a gold medal.
While he is a great athlete, he wasn’t born that way.
In fact, he took up swimming because of his sisters and to provide an outlet for his energy.
When he was 12 years old, he was diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder or ADHD.
He wasn’t born a winner any more than successful entrepreneurs are born with a winning idea and strategy in their head — or successful corporate professionals have all of the answers to every challenge that comes across their desk.
He also made mistakes in his personal life.
So have I.
And, probably you have, too.
Yet, Phelps set all of that aside and continued on his journey with clear resolve and focus, committed to what was most important.
Most people would have packed a bag of thoughts to carry around outlining what they could have done differently or better, ultimately getting in the way of what would be possible.
After he won, Phelps said, “Dream as big as you can dream, and anything is possible.”

You were created for greatness.
You have talents, skills, abilities, and genius that no one else has.
You also have personal limits that can keep you from achieving what you want.
Which will you give your attention and focus to each day?
When you start with a written plan beginning with the end in mind and remain 100% focused on that end, anything is possible.
