One of the best ways to be seen as an expert is to show up often in the right places. At my annual Design Your Destiny LIVE event, I speak about the triangle of influence. At the bottom is visibility. And, through visibility comes credibility.
The more people see you, the more they think, “Wow! He/she must be very successful, I’ve seen him/her everywhere!” This perception will enable you to move up the triangle of influence to referability. (Obviously, there is a little more to this but this really happens!)

And, the #1 way to gain exposure that creates influence is to attend live events and conferences in your industry and/or that enhances your growth and development. When people meet you in person, it’s more powerful than connecting with you online.
My 3-day live event, Design Your Destiny LIVE, is in January, and while it may seem that I’m sharing this to convince you to come (because I would love for you to be there), the truth is that I budget and attend at least 3 events/year that support my personal and professional growth (which is one of my 7 Pillars of Leadership Success).
Why I do this?
Because I get to mix and mingle with other movers and shakers and connect with new people who have become partners and great connections. Plus, I always learn a TON and come home excited and energized with new ideas, tips, and tools. And, I would guess that if you’re like me, you rarely take 3 days out for yourself where you’re focused on you and your growth.
There are tons of live-event opportunities out there….from networking meetings in your local community to attending BIG, national conferences and seminars. If you want to increase your influence and impact, you need to be seen in the right places.
The final piece in the triangle is profitability. Influence and impact increases your ability to create the right opportunities.
