Do you have a support system?
When I was starting out, I was unusual as I didn’t believe that I had to do everything alone – and still don’t. I understood the value of doing what I do best and networking the rest, one of the mantras I share in my first book, Designing Your Destiny.
Before I ever had a client, I hired Sheri, my executive assistant. She’s been an asset in handling the day-to-day operations of the business and supports me in too many ways to count.
Then there is Kathy. Her sole responsibility is to make me look like a rock star when it comes to connecting. That’s it.
Carmen handles all of the copy and strategy for my annual Design Your Destiny LIVE event (www.DesignYourDestinyLIVE.com) – and Renee uses technology to bring it to life. They both work their magic to make me look good.
And, finally, there is Jo. Jo takes all of the bright shiny objects that are sitting around and ensures that I stick to the strategy. That’s priceless!
I’m also part of a high-level (that means high-$$$ investment) mastermind group with mentors who help me to go big or go home. I have accountability partners, business buddies who listen, and coaches who I gladly pay to keep me on track. Even when I didn’t own my business, I created a similar level of support with advisors, coaches, participation in leadership training programs that weren’t sponsored by my employer (code for I paid for the training), all covering different areas of expertise.
How about you?
Do you have the support you need – or are you attempting to go it alone? If you don’t have even a fraction of this level of support, it’s time you create it.
ACTION ITEM: The Upside Thought of the week is to identify what you want to create in your life – and get the support you need.
No one goes it alone.
Life is change. Growth is optional. Choose wisely. Lead Upside.
