In preparation for Holy Week, I spent Friday evening and Saturday morning this past weekend volunteering at an Emmaus retreat, a women’s ministry in Coral Gables that is near and dear to my heart.
I came home tired, yet peaceful, and Jim and I spent the rest of the weekend sharing gratitude for our many blessings.
Taking time for quiet reflection and being still are critical to hearing where I’m being pulled versus me pushing where I want to go — and trusting each step of my journey.
I pride myself on being a lifelong learner.
I believe that lessons come at every moment.
In theory, this sounds deep and revolutionary.
In reality, it’s scary as all get out.
I’ve had to learn to trust deeply and recognize that for every low, there will be a great high.
And, for every high, there will be a low that follows.
That is the cycle of life.
This allows me to appreciate the gifts through the challenges which is what Upside Thinking really is.
Right now, you are being trained.
And, you’re probably wondering, “For what?!?”
Well, that’s up to you
When you recognize that every choice you’ve made has gotten you to this moment today and you’re being given lessons that will serve you in the future, it’s easier to trust.
Again.
And, again.
Trust means giving up the need to control every outcome.
It’s scary.
And, if I’m honest with you, I don’t much like it.
But, after it’s over, it’s amazing.
….and so worth it.
There is this glorious moment after you let go and just recognize that what is just is.And, you’ve got no judgment about it.
ACTION ITEM: The Upside Challenge for the week is to identify where you need to trust more. What have you been resisting that it’s become a big rock around your neck weighing you down? What is one small thing you could do to shift your perspective and lean in to the trusting?
Remember, life is change. Growth is optional. Choose wisely. Lead Upside.
And, for those who are celebrating this week, wishing you a happy Passover and/or blessed Easter.
