Jim and I have both been working long hours and decided to head out of town for a few days for some rest and relaxation.
We booked a flight to Toronto, Ontario leaving on July 4th for six days of sightseeing – and a little bit of business for me.
On Wednesday, July 3rd, I received an email from the airline letting me know that they had cancelled my flight.
I had wrapped up all of my client projects, gone to the spa to get prepped for the trip, had the house cleaned, and had already started packing!
But, I was not going to let this minor glitch ruin my plans to relax and unwind.
So, I sprang into action and booked another fabulous trip – and while it was much closer to home, it was several places I had been wanting to go to for years!
Plan B.
All too often you can get de-railed when setbacks and delays interrupt your big plans.
I see it all the time.
Business people who were so set on Plan A that when they get “surprised” by the hitches and glitches of life, they don’t know how to bounce back.
And, they get stuck bemoaning why this happened to them.
Because I have the pleasure of working with some incredibly talented individuals who come to me because Plan A didn’t work out the way they expected,I craft a Plan B with them that is so remarkable, they cannot believe it wasn’t their Plan A all along!
How about you? How’s your Plan A? Do you have a Plan B?
The Upside Challenge this week is to examine where you are with your big plans. Are you on track with where you want to be this year? If not, what are you going to do about it?
Life is change. Growth is optional. Choose wisely. Live Upside.
