When my life looked the prettiest…I was at the lowest point.
~ I spent big money on spa days and fun outings, always picking up the tab.
~ I wore designer clothes, and made heads turn.
~ I went to bars, and dance clubs, and had all the right moves.
~ I had a hot body – and dated hot men...who took me to n-i-c-e places.
What I lacked was respect for myself.
What I didn’t have was integrity…even though my law enforcement credentials promised that I did.
There were parts of my life where I was lying to myself…and I made it look sooo good that even I was having a hard time telling the truth from the lie.
I acted strong and untouchable…and walked around looking as if I had it all together.
I finally reached a place in my life where the pain of how I felt... was greater than the pain of doing the work.
I chose to come out of the dark and into the light.
How did I do it?
I examined and brought every piece of who I was into alignment with my values and my purpose.
Using a simple process, I was able to move from the heartache, and sleepless nights…to a place of reconciliation and peace.
Today, I clearly understand who I am, what I want, and why it matters.
As soon as I open my eyes after I wake up in the morning, I have my mission on my heart.
I get on my knees and pray.
My mission is to transform lives through leadership…by being a force for good on the planet… modeling what is possible when you show up both courageous and vulnerable... working on being the most optimal version of who you're called to be…in order to open the door for the women and men who struggle with their own Divine mission, purpose, and calling.
Simple.
Not easy.
There are many moments when I feel unworthy…and then I remember who God is… and that this isn’t really about me anyway.
So if your heart is heavy…
… I understand.
I have felt the burden of struggle…getting I was meant for more and feeling I was standing in the darkness all alone.
You’re not alone.
You can set down your cross whenever you want…and I’ll help guide you wherever you are when you’re ready.
You might be scared.
And, I get you are meant for MORE…so much more.
I promise you it’s possible…
… and the first step may be painful.
Yet, it’s worth it.
ACTION: The Upside Challenge for the week is to:
1) decide to put down your "cross"-- your burden of living a life that doesn't feel right."
2) identify two or three areas where your actions don't match your values.
3) reach out to a trusted person who can really see you and "where you are," and understands your capacity for greatness.
If you’re tired of running, stop. Be brave enough to look, decide it can be different, and then make it so.
The world needs the truth of you, because that's when you truly shine, and the world needs you and your brilliance.
...I've got your back.
