I’ve heard people blame what’s going on in their life on just about everything.
~ The government.
~ The weather.
~ The economy.
I’ve also heard people tell me how “lucky” I am. Luck has nothing to do with where I am today.
I do the work – the good, the bad, and the ugly. That’s what courageous leadership is all about. You get to make choices every single day.
Thursday was the 4th of July.
Like every morning, I took my morning walk and watched the sun rise.
While other people hosted bar-b-ques and partied it up, I chose to work, as the 4th of July seems like the perfect day to honor the values of Freedom, Fun, and Flexibility that had me open the business in the first place.
Working seemed like the best way to express my gratitude to the brave women and men who made it possible for me to have the freedom to make this choice.
As I sat outside in my red, white, and blue tank asking myself, “How can I be a force for good on the planet today?”
I ask myself that every morning and doing so allows me to move about the day with intention.
How about you?
Do your daily choices get you further or closer
to the life you want?
Pause to think about it next time you mindlessly do anything.
What you eat, speak, and do has a long-term effect on your life.
The actions you take today, even the small ones, bring you closer to your destiny.
Before you do anything, ask yourself, “Does this choice or decision allow me to make a positive difference in the world?”
If the answer isn’t a resounding “YES!”, it may not be yours to do.
You are here for a reason, and whether you realize it or not...
...the world needs you and your brilliance.
Let Freedom Ring!
ACTION: The Upside Challenge for this week is to challenge yourself to make one intentional choice each day that aligns with your core values and contributes to your sense of freedom.
First, spend five minutes reflecting on how you can honor one of these values
Then throughout your day, consciously make one choice that aligns with your values. If you value fun, this could be engaging in a creative activity you love.
Finally, at the end of the day, take a few minutes to reflect on the choice you made and consider how it made you feel and how it contributed to your sense of freedom.
