As I share in my 1st book Designing Your Destiny, you get the chance to re-invent yourself every day. Are you on track with your goals?
For the past several years, I’ve been offering “Realize Your Destiny” private leadership retreat days.
Clients get to come to my home (or we meet someplace fun) and during our time together, we examine where they are and what they want to accomplish next.
I love the a-ha’s and insights that come from drawing out a client’s leadership strengths and teaching them how to stand boldly in their vision.
After stepping into the future, we examine the celebrations and challenges of today.
Throughout the day, there is music and laughter while we are building a strategy, plan and mapping out the customized support they need to realize their destiny.
If you’re like most of my clients, you can identify one of the following situations:

Are You on Track With Your Goals?
Here are the top three ways I check in with a situation to ensure that I’m on track to accomplish what I want to achieve over the next year:
1. Who?
When you’re looking to realize a goal or a dream, it’s important to remember no one goes it alone. And, it’s beneficial to know who has gone before you and crossed the finish line. Someone out there has faced great odds doing the difficult. Learn from their experience. Whether you read an inspiring book, sign up for a workshop, or hire a coach, use the success of others as the springboard to move forward.
2. Where?
In 8th grade, I was required to read Norman Vincent Peale’s book, The Power of Positive Thinking, and carry around Mr. Peale’s quotes on 3×5 note cards. You can’t take action if you don’t know where you’re headed. Your destination and next steps need to be in front of you at all times. Put sticky notes on your mirror and messages on your desk outlining where you are going. Be excited about the journey!
3. Why?
If you’ve ever struggled with procrastination and putting off doing things that you say you want, you could be disconnected from your “BIG why.” I have potential clients tell me why they want something during our initial strategy session as their motivation will give me clues to their likelihood of being successful. If you don’t have a list that outlines your motivation or why, take out a piece of paper this week and write out why you want what you say you want. People lose their way when they lose their why.

The Upside Challenge of the week is to examine whether the who, where, or why of what you want to accomplish are missing.
