It’s only 10 days away until the doors open at Design Your Destiny Live™!
Seeing the faces of each attendee and feeling their love and support makes me giddy with excitement.
In my leadership coaching programs, I speak about how it’s possible to get what you want without changing who you are.
I prepare all year for this, ensuring that everyone in the room is valued, appreciated, and loved for who they are.
And, being in a room filled with difference makers inspires me
With the miracle of my Dad’s recovery and a few other blessings, it’s been a beautiful start to the year.
As I think about what I’m committed to this year, it’s more of all of that.
Authenticity.
Service.
Love.
Whether you’re able to be in the room this year or not, I wanted to share a resource that has been life-changing in helping me to tap into all three…..a resource I share with clients and attendees at the event.
How to create a meaningful and memorable presence
That resource is my friend, Katherine Johnson.
So, I’ve asked Katherine to share her 5 biggest tips to creating a meaningful and memorable presence, something I’ll be speaking about at Design Your Destiny Live™.
…………because the world needs you and your brilliance.
Action Item: Create a meaningful and memorable presence
The Upside Challenge of the week is to implement one (or all) of these 5 tips.
Remember, the world needs you and your brilliance.
The Five Keys to Authentically Elevate Your Presence
by Katherine Johnson
How you show up is like a microphone announcing who you are to the world. What are you communicating?
Use these five keys to authentically elevate your presence and make it easier for people to connect with you.Upside-Thinking-create-a-meaningful-and-memorable-presence
- Be The Centerpiece. This can be the biggest change of perspective for people. Think of you clothes as the frame, and you are the masterpiece. The job of your wardrobe is to play a supporting role that helps people connect and hear your message. If your clothes are demanding attention first, then people may not make it past this first barrier to connect with the true masterpiece – YOU.
- Take Off The Costume. Your authentic presence starts with honesty. Step one is to identify any costumes that may be diminishing your presence. The three main costumes people use that disrupt connection are invisibility cloak, armor and friendly clothes. Be honest with yourself and figure out if you use clothes in any of these ways.
- Refresh Yourself. Step two of your authentic presence is to make sure that your appearance is a natural reflection of who you are now in life. Outdated or mismatched hair and make-up send unconscious cues that you may be hanging on to a previous version of yourself instead of confidently embracing who you are now. Is your hair the same length & style you wore ten or fifteen years ago? Are you applying make-up the same old way? As we get older, outdated make-up application can actually make us look older, unhealthier and washed out. It’s important to be current on what works best for you.
- Embrace Color. Every single person has colors that effortlessly create more aliveness and congruence when they wear them. Think of yourself like an animal – what colored feathers, fur or scales would you have based on the clues of your eye color and hair color? These colors can be your best foundational colors and can help you stand out from the sea of black clothes that retail insists works for everyone (hint: they don’t).
- Budget For Your Personal Brand. You have a marketing budget to create your online presence, your logo, your fonts and your colors. Do you budget for your personal brand? Investing in an image consultant requires the same commitment to your business that you put towards all the other branding elements. You are a walking billboard for your business. Having an authentic presence increases your confidence, positions you effectively and communicates your value.
