How to rise and shine today? Have a morning routine and be intentional with your morning hours. Be the best version of yourself throughout the day
When I identified the 7 Pillars of Leadership, it was because I was looking for a personal shortcut into being a successful leader in my own business.
Because my background was in law enforcement, I was looking for an entrance into the world of business that would make it easier for me.
What I discovered was a process that not only helped me but enabled my clients to grow their businesses and get stratospheric results with ease.
It also helped the clients who worked in organizations secure bigger opportunities and be better paid than their colleagues, allowing them to spend quality time with their families.
And, it enabled me to breathe deeply knowing that I had a process that works.
While these 7 Pillars of Leadership now serve as the foundation for my annual Design Your Destiny Live™ event, I often speak about them individually as well as collectively on my coaching calls and corporate trainings.
The one that brings up the most anxiety and I spend several hours on during the event is Pillar #4: Live Your Priorities.
When you think about what someone does who is successful, it’s more than what they do that separates them from everyone else; it’s also how they do what they do.
This week, I want to share the one area that productivity research consistently finds evidence to support.
While you cannot control what will happen throughout the day, you can typically control how you will start your day – the thoughts that will be in your head, the time you wake up, and the actions you take.
Having a morning routine that aids you in being the best version of yourself throughout the day is critical to living your priorities.
Rise And Shine Today
If you want to be more energized and productive throughout the day, be intentional with your morning hours.
You get 24 hours a day to live out your big mission and purpose.
To put it in a different perspective, twenty-four hours equals 1,440 minutes.
Research shows that top performers wake up by 6am at the latest each morning.
This does not mean that you go to bed at midnight and wake up at 6am as the body needs sufficient sleep.
In a Healthline.com article “The Science of Sleep”, there are 11 great reasons why the average person should get 7 – 8 hours of sleep each night.
Because I want to wake up at 5am to get to the gym, I need to be in bed by 7:30 – 8:30pm each night.
Scientists have conducted countless studies that show that waking up early results in a happier, healthier, and more successful life.
But, what if you’re not an early riser?
Does that mean you can’t be successful?
No, but the amount of research in this area that speaks about the benefits of being an early riser is astounding.
From being more organized, to anticipating problems, to proactively taking charge of a situation, early risers spend more time living in quadrant 2 of Covey’s Time Management Matrix and enjoy benefits that are hard to deny.
