What an amazing year of travels! In flying first class, I’ve met billionaire bankers and financiers and every fascinating career you can imagine. When I get asked what I do for a living, I give them my standard phrase and engage in a conversation that is less about work and more about who they are. Ultimately, it leads to a long dialogue about how I do what I do for my clients. Interestingly, the past two conversations I’ve been asked if I do life coaching to which I reply “no”. But, the more I think about it, yes, I believe I do. The way you think about the world and the beliefs you hold (your mindset) often determine how successful you will be.
Yes, your mindset can be more powerful than all of your talents, skills and abilities. When a client is stuck, they usually think the problem is external – something they are not doing – not internal i.e. how they are thinking. But, your thinking is the #1 factor that determines how you experience your life. If you change your thinking, you will change your life. You are the only one that can do that.
This week I want to give you one (1) tip to be able to begin re-programming your mindset. You have a voice inside of you that “shares” with you whether you want it to or not. And, sometimes this voice can be pretty loud. Self-talk is the inner dialogue or chatter in your head. Your inner voice can have a variety of personalities from whispering “you can do it” as the gentle encourager to shouting “who do you think you are” as the harsh critic.
While everyone has this voice that comments on all that you’re doing, most people know the harsh critic really well. How about you? What is most amazing about this voice is that it can take small issues and turn them into disasters – inside your head.
So, if you want to change how you experience life and love, you’ve got to change how you think and your inside voice or inner dialogue especially when it’s telling you that you’re not loved or a loser or a failure or hopeless or you’ll end up broke or a number of other awful things that it is known to say.
You’ve got to listen closely and then ask yourself a few questions about it.
