This really saved me…

Time.
You would probably like to know where you can buy more, create more, or get more.
I know that this was an area of my life that I would ponder often.
When you’re not focused on time, you stress less. You enjoy more.
One of the pillars we examine at the Leadership Success Summit (and we just announced the 2016 dates so mark your calendar for January 21st – 23rd) is centered around this concept.
So, here are 3 things you can do to add more hours to your day.
- Hold Out for Your Vision. My clients are successful, talented, and have already full plates. Because they have a zest for life and are excited about possibilities, saying “No” and letting go of distractions doesn’t always come easy to them.Know the 3 things you want to accomplish this year. With 3 months already gone in 2015, where do you want to beat the end of this year when you’re sharing what you’ve accomplished? You may have opportunities to do something that could change your life – but if the opportunity isn’t directly tied to where you’re headed, the answer should be “No.” It’s that simple. Too often, you say “Yes” to the possibility that something will change your life rather than trusting that what you need will show up exactly when you need it.
- Hold on tight to your vision!
- Stop Gold-Plating. I was hired to deliver a presentation on positioning to a new client. My process used to be to create the presentation and then tweak. Sometimes I’m making changes the night before the event. Not anymore. I now decide ahead of time that my workshop will have everything my client asked for and needed – and it will be delivered early with no changes. The best part of this is how easy the content flows because I give myself permission not to gold-plate. And, this frees up my time to practice the presentation and be relaxed the morning I’m set to present.
- Know Your Personality. If you’re left-brained, it’s easy to see time in manageable pieces. However, if you’re right-brained, you probably see time as never-ending. And, this affects how you live. If you see time as manageable pieces, you may limit your creativity or possibilities. Yet, if you’re right-brained, seeing everything at once can be overwhelming.
When you master these three areas, it’s not about trying to stuff 29 hours into a 24 hour day, it’s about recognizing that by taking these simple actions, you create a life that is abundantly more rich as you have a treasure chest of found hours in your day.
ACTION ITEM: The Upside Challenge of the week is to focus on one of the three areas – Hold out for your vision, Stop gold-plating, or Know your personality – and use it in how you’re setting up your week
Remember, Life is Change. Growth is Optional. Choose wisely. Lead Upside.
Keep riding the Upside. It’s all Upside.
