Over the past few weeks, I’ve been sharing bits and pieces of what it’s been like to be in the final stages of the re-branding of Upside Thinking, Inc.
And, you’ve probably heard me talk about how your personal brand is an incredibly important piece of how you position yourself in the business world.
Unfortunately, there is so much fuzziness around building a brand and what that actually means.
Is a “brand” about the look and feel of an organization?
Is it their logo or the symbol they use to identify themselves?
Or, maybe it’s the tagline, color scheme, or marketing lingo?
Actually, it’s all of that and none of that.
A brand is an identifier that serves as the “what” that differentiates one product or service from another and influences whether we buy into or promote a person, product, or company.
Throughout the re-branding process of Upside Thinking, Inc. I have kept the logo and color scheme the same even though we have a fresh new look.
But, the most critical part of the process is all about who I am – my mission, vision, and values – what I do, and why it matters.
Being clear about your personal brand will enable you to position yourself in a manner that makes people want more.
Your personal brand can be used to attract the right clients or get your boss to give you the opportunity you’ve been looking for.
ACTION ITEM: The Upside Challenge this week is to examine your own personal brand. Ask 5 people who you work with and interact with on a regular basis what they believe are your strongest attributes or values. Is this what you want people to see and think about you? Is it in alignment with who you believe you are?
I encourage you to put a value on your personal brand. And, if it isn’t what you thought or where you want to be, ask yourself what you’re willing to do about it.
Life is change. Growth is optional. Choose wisely. Live Upside.
