How are you feeling at the end of your work days?
Like you’ve accomplished the most important things or do you feel completely wiped out and spinning your wheels?
Just so that you understand, I’m no slacker.
Because I love what I do, I have no problem working long hours, and I created a S-Y-S-T-E-M (Save Your Self Time, Energy & Money) to keep me on task, and moving forward at all times. Plus, I have mastermind partners, and a coach to boot.
After a full day, I am often just as energized and excited as when I woke up.
So, what’s the problem?
Well, if I compare myself to my husband, I just don’t cut the mustard. The man is a working machine. He gets more done in 24 hours than anyone I know. (I swear the guy bends time.)
What I can tell you is that I’ve learned a thing or two from this superman, and I’d like to share them with you.
It can be easy to spread your attention to a million things that are not even remotely related to your personal and professional goals and money making strategies.
Here are a few of the secrets for staying focused on what’s important —
1. Plan ahead. Jim always starts his day out before it ever gets there. If he’s leaving for a trip on Monday, you can be sure he’s packed by Sunday morning. At the end of each day, peruse the calendar for the next day and see what you’ve scheduled. Identify the most important task for the day. If you’re in sales, or in business for yourself, this should be an action that will affect your bottom line and be a money making activity. Commit to doing as soon as possible in the day. And, be sure to block out time for you to work on something for longer than 30 minutes without distractions. Uninterrupted, focused time does wonders to keep us energized, and moving towards the goal
2. Know where you want to go. Regardless of the weather, or time of the day, my husband goes for a morning run every day to spend 30 minutes planning his day. Before you start your day, envision what you will accomplish. Be clear about your end results. Read your mission, values, and vision statement (they are written down, right?). Imagine what you want; design the perfect day. See yourself acting confidently, accomplishing the most important tasks at hand, and anticipating unexpected opportunities. Then, go and create it!
3. Set expiration dates. Because my husband knows that I am a stickler about expiration dates, he never lets me eat or drink anything that passes its prime. The same is true about what we want in life. Calendar your action items. Make the commitment to build excitement about your vision, and bring your friends along for the ride!
On the journey, it’s easy to stay energized, excited, and extraordinary if you move forward with purpose and passion each and every day.
Remember, life is change. Growth is optional. Choose wisely. Choose Upside.
