~ Not everyone is going to like you.
~ Not everyone is going to see your value.
~ Not everyone is going to be able to go where you’re going.
I wish I had understood these simple truths early on in my life.
What I did get is the importance of understanding who you are and acting accordingly.
I am kind to others because of who I am.
That doesn’t mean I’m not going to hold people accountable.
That also doesn’t mean I’ll tolerate bad behavior -- or -- poor performance.
It does mean I love people for who they are and am going to love on them in the best way possible, doing my best not cause undue harm or pain in the world.
If you find yourself walking on eggshells around certain people, they’re probably not contributing to your life in a healthy way.
When you shrink yourself, you diminish the good you can give
and also the good you can receive.
When you choose to have standards of excellence …
,,, you don’t have to settle for low quality experiences or people who don’t value you or what you have to offer.
Be forewarned …
… when you live this way, ...
... your light will be so great it will expose shadows - the shadows in the world or people.
You may find some people tell you that you’re too bright ...or
“not all that” ... or resort to any amount of ugly that makes
their “less than” be about you.
Sometimes people resort to this so they don’t have to feel guilty about how they operate and justify bad behavior.
Read that again.
Remember to shine your light brightly …despite the shadows. Despite what others may say or do--- because this never was about them anyway.
Recognize when reactions aren't about you.
Create distance where you need to.
Refuse to shrink.
Make the commitment to CREATE MORE LIGHT.
ACTION: The Upside Challenge for the week is to recognize if you have been shrinking or hiding yourself.
Who are you and who do you want to be?
What do you need to do for yourself so that instead of shrinking, you shine?
Do it. Every Day. Every Hour.
