After 6 months, I finally got all of our 18 boxes of books opened and on the shelves in the library of our new home.
I envision that this room will be one of the most relaxing rooms in our home. Complete with skylights, radiant red walls, and mirrored shelving units, it’s a beautiful space.
One of the reasons it took me so long to put the books in order is because I would pick up my favorites and randomly begin reading a paragraph or two…sometimes even a chapter.
I stumbled across one of my all-time favorites, Purple Cow by Seth Godin.
Here is an excerpt I love.
“Cows, after you’ve seen one, or two, or ten, are boring. A Purple Cow, though…now that would be something. Purple Cow describes something phenomenal, something counter-intuitive and exciting and flat out unbelievable. Every day, consumers come face to face with a lot of boring stuff-a lot of brown cows-but you can bet they won’t forget a Purple Cow. And it’s not a marketing function that you can slap on to your product or service. Purple Cow is inherent. It’s built right in, or it’s not there. Period. ” – Seth Godin
Out of the tens of thousands (or more) of the people in the world you do what you do,how do you stand out from the crowd and get noticed?
Do you have a key differentiator – something that you use to open the window of the mind of those who need your talents?
What do you do so that you can guarantee you’ll get rewarded with that thing you really want – money, recognition, or opportunity?
Stop being a brown cow.
Step Up(side) and stand out.
