I’m still on a high from my 6th Annual Leadership Success Summit. What an event! And, I don’t say that because it was my event. (I am always my harshest critic.) I say that because of the brilliant attendees, speakers, experts, and educators who were part of this event. I was stopped throughout the event by people who used the words “life-changing” and “earth-moving”.
“Like nothing I have every experienced before” and “the best event I’ve ever attended”were phrases I heard over and over again and I cannot say THANK YOU enough to every person who believed in my big vision of incorporating empowerment with sound business strategies, corporate with small business, and perspectives from both men and women – and was part of this AMAZING EVENT.
As I sat to write the Upside Thought this week, I am reminded of how the world belongs to the crazy ones.
All my life, I’ve never been one who “fit in” or was part of the “in” crowd. I spent most of my days feeling alone and did my best to try to be invisible, and fly below the radar.
As the years passed, I felt compelled to share my gifts with the world rather than hide them.
I started to speak out softly and then louder, claiming my voice. (Remember, the world belongs to those who stand out, not those who fit in.)
Every time I shared something that was unconventional I could feel the fear well up inside me and I wanted to retreat.
I struggled between wanting to be liked and being authentic.
On my journey to the Leadership Success Summit, one of my friends sent me this snippet entitled The Crazy Ones from a poster made by Apple.
I’d like to share part of the original version with you.
It goes like this.
“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes.
The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them.
About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They invent. They imagine. They heal. They explore. They create. They inspire. They push the human race forward.
Maybe they have to be crazy.
How else can you stare at an empty canvas and see a work of art? Or sit in silence and hear a song that’s never been written?………….While some see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.
Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
Do you see things differently? Are you boldly living out what you are called to do in the world, sharing your gifts in a BIG way? Are you a crazy one?!?
I sure hope so because the world will be a better place because of your brilliance.
And, once again, thank you to the attendees of the Leadership Success Summit for trusting in me and my BIG vision.
