My favorite time of year is Fall.
Living in Miami the past 5 years, however, I didn’t enjoy the benefit of all 4 seasons as we enjoy summer all year long. (smile)
What I enjoy most about Autumn is the changing leaves as they remind me that it’s time to reflect, renew, and let go.
Every September/October, I practice clearing out the clutter and reorganize my life.
The cooler, crisp weather in Pennsylvania where I grew up served as a signal to bring out the sweaters and warmer clothes but it was much more than that.
This time of year as the leaves turned from red to orange to yellow and swirled to the ground, it also indicated that it was time to check in and see where I needed to say good-bye to old thoughts, habits, and ways of doing things.
And, this year is no different.
I’ve been lightening my load and am INCREDIBLY EXCITED about the new year.
There is so much around me that is changing -where I work, who my friends are, how I run my business, the format of the Leadership Success Summit – and so on and so on.
While change can be unnerving, it can also be an amazing blessing.
As I move further and further into doing positioning work with my clients, I realize that most people do not know how to leverage their expertise and rely on others to notice all of the great things they’re doing.
This mindset can be detrimental and downright dangerous to career or business growth, leading to stagnation and becoming irrelevant.
ACTION ITEM: The Upside Challenge of the week is to examine where you need to lighten your own load. What is getting in the way – old thoughts, habits, and ways of doing what you do — of you being able to leverage your expertise?
The world is made for those who stand out, not those who fit in.
Clear the clutter and the chaos before winter gets here, creating the space for incredible opportunities to come your way!
