In my 1st book, Designing Your Destiny, I have a chapter entitled, Attitude of Gratitude.
An attitude of gratitude is how I live my life.
I do my best to be thankful for the blessing of being alive every moment of every day.
For sunshine and storms that pass, great health, and deep friendships.
I’m grateful for my loving and supportive husband and a family that always shows up when I need them.
How about you?
Gratefulness grows when you recognize the countless ways in which you’ve been fortunate.
And, it gets bigger when you realize you have more than you deserve.
Last week I attended a speaker training course through Thrive Academy.
During a session on day #2, my energy was super low and I was disappointed that I didn’t raise my hand and get the support I needed on making an offer from the stage.
In that moment, I started to get angry with myself for not speaking up.
Fortunately, that never lasts long as I usually challenge myself to find the Upside in the most trying of moments.
So, I asked myself, “What would happen if I trusted that I was getting everything I needed, everything was working out in perfect timing, and I focused on all I was getting vs. what I thought I wasn’t getting?!?”
In a matter of moments, I was deeply grateful for the experience and the people in the room and my energy soared.
Without getting into the nitty-gritty details, I truly was exactly where I was meant to be.
And, I got a major breakthrough on stage the next day – the one I was supposed to get!
If you feel gratitude should be private and kept to yourself, I’d love to know why.
In my experience, when you openly express your gratitude, more things to cause you to be grateful show up.
By shining light on your blessings, you multiply them.
CALL TO ACTION: The Upside Thought for this week is to say more than “thank you” to express your gratitude. Reach out to 5 people and let them know how they have blessed you. Be specific.
Great leaders are great-full and grateful.
Shine your light – and choose an attitude of gratitude each and every day to make your mark on the world.
