Stop Being Overlooked and Start Being Seen for Your Brilliance.
The corporate world can be a slippery slope. You can work hard for years to get the position you want only to suddenly find yourself back peddling because you’ve worked yourself into a position you hate.
Expected to be “compassionate” and “nurturing”, women especially find themselves in a position where they aren’t taken seriously and their talents are overlooked or they’re viewed as a b*tch for claiming their expertise. There is nothing more frustrating than being a successful high performer and finding yourself fighting to stand out and being forced to play small because of those around you.
For example, meet Sally* who was a former CEO for a successful startup and was recruited into what she thought was going to be her “dream job” in a larger company.
Like for so many others, this just wasn’t the case.
Instead of inspiring her employees to create big change in the world and using her creativity and hutzpah to bring the company to new heights, Sally ended up with a boss that didn’t value her talents or recognize her genius. She worked long hours that left her exhausted and resulted in working on an endless list of things she really didn’t have passion for.
Even though her employees loved Sally, she’d been passed over for promotion and demoted (or at least it felt like it) and she was beginning to wonder if she should quit and start over.
And this is when she hired me as her coach to help her be a better leader.
Leadership is Influence:
You’re either being influenced by others or influencing others.
The reality Sally was living was something that could be changed.
What many professionals in this situation don’t realize is that their troubles don’t stem from a poor work environment or a mediocre manager. They stem from differing communication styles and priorities that vary from person to person.
Once you understand the styles of those around you and where yours fit in, it’s easy to be seen for your brilliance and get back to doing the job you love.
And this is what I do with my clients. I help them position themselves and their ideas so they can get what they want.
Now, this isn’t about manipulation or operating out of integrity. This about understanding their personality and how it affects the results they want.
Your personality will move you towards what you want
or far away from it.
I know how important it is to earn the respect and admiration of your boss and your peers without losing your sense of self because I’ve been there. My background and experience in understanding human behavior makes me uniquely equipped to teach people how to teach those around them how to do the same. I look at my work as a partnership where it’s about learning how to show up – what to say, how to say it, and what not to say – using the leadership style you were born with.
As a woman, it can be tough to stand out without feeling like you’re showing off. After all, shouldn’t your boss already see how hard you work?!? As frustrating as this may be, I guarantee when you understand how to be heard and own your position you will be a force to be reckoned with.
Here are just a few of the things you can expect to accomplish during our work together:
- Gain access to the “inner circle” in the organization where your ideas matter
- Set boundaries that enable you to say “No” to projects and people without feeling guilty
- Get the promotions, and bonuses you know you deserve
- Navigate tough conversations easily and effortlessly at all levels
- Be seen as a competent leader, leaving the “Dragon Woman” comments behind
